Itsu Instant Soup Sachets: Ingredients and Extra Information
There’s nothing more soothing than a soup when you have a sore throat, but making one from scratch can be extremely time consuming and down-right exhausting when you’re feeling under the weather.
Luckily, Itsu (questionably the best low-fat salad, sushi and noodle health food store chain in London) has produced an instant version of its famed detox miso soup so that you can experience the same fine dining experience you would in one of its Chelsea or Notting Hill restaurants right from your bedroom.
Well, that is a bit of an exaggeration, because it’s likely you will have the make the soup yourself. But the good news is that these instant versions have the same great taste, and preparation time is near to non-existent: just simply empty the sachet contents into a mug, add hot water and stir.
There are currently two different types of miso soup – original and vegetarian. Both are made from paste, not powder (for better taste and texture) and are completely free from MSG colourings and artificial flavourings.
The Original Miso Soup Sachets contain:
Soya paste (Soya, Water, Salt, Rice, Alcohol, Roasted barley flour), Water, Alcohol, Seaweed, Seasoned kelp extract (Kelp extract, Reduced sugar syrup, Alcohol, Salt, Thickener [E415]), Sugar, Yeast extract powder, Salt, Bonito extract (fish), soy sauce (Water, Wheat, Soya, Salt), Dried bonito powder (fish).
And the Vegetarian Miso Soup Sachets contain:
Soya paste (soya, Water, Salt, Rice, Alcohol, Roasted barley flour), Water, Alcohol, Seaweed, Yeast extract powder, Sugar, Seasoned kelp extract (Kelp extract, Salt, Dextrin), Soy sauce (Water, Soya, Wheat, Salt), Salt.
As you can see, both sets of ingredients are very similar and have simply been adjusted to fit most dietary requirements. However, it is important to note that neither are gluten free and all Itsu soups currently contain soya.
Both kinds of miso soups have a delicious depth to them. They are healthy, light and full of flavour. But don’t take our word for it, try for yourself…
